![]() ![]() To confront the Red Death, the twins mount the Hideous Zippleback that had been kept at the arena, which fits their fractious relationship, the two naming the dragon Barf and Belch. ![]() Ruffnut decides to join the other teens in helping Hiccup fight the Red Death. ![]() Ruffnut seems to develop a crush on him and flirts with him (before Astrid pulls her away). Later, however, when Hiccup displays an amazing talent for subduing the dragons, she becomes his avid fan (often pushing and shoving Tuffnut to be the first to talk to him). Joining the same Dragon Training class as Hiccup, at first Ruffnut delights in taunting Hiccup over his poor performance although she doesn't have much success either due to the fact that she couldn't get along with her brother in battle. They often suggest they remember fighting as far back as in the womb. When Tuffnut claimed that Ruffnut was afraid of the dark, she countered with the fact that it was him that was afraid of the dark, and that made her frightened of him, probably after being woken up by Tuffnut being frightened of the dark! Ruff always had a complicated relationship with her brother. She played a lot with cousins of a similar age, and some of their greatest times were spent at older family members' funerals. Ruff even contracted fleas at one point picking the bugs off an uncle's back. She spent a lot of time with more extended family members, suggesting they had a very close knit family. Up until she was twelve, her mother even chewed her food for her. She enjoyed a close relationship with her mother growing up, as she had fond memories of her mother singing to her and protecting her from her rambunctious twin.
